What is UPSC? UPSC Information!

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is prime recruiting body for the Government of India. UPSC recruit candidates for All India Services (IAS, IPS, IFoS), Central Services, and the Armed Forces of the Union of India. The list of all examinations conducted by UPSC is given below.

 

UPSC examination, is conducted in three phases: a preliminary examination consisting of two objective-type papers (General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II.

Also generally known as Civil Service Aptitude Test, and a main examination consisting of nine papers of conventional (essay) type, in which two papers are qualifying and only marks of seven are counted followed by a personality test. UPSC IAS Exam Notification 2024

UPSC as far have declared the notification for Civil Services Exam in Initial days of February. For 2024, the notification will come on 14th February, 2024 as notified by UPSC in its annual calendar. After the notification the application process begins. Within around 15-20 days from Notification declaration, candidates are supposed to fill the application. Details of dates of various examination can be seen in UPSC Calendar 2024.

UPSC CSE Eligibility- Nationality

For Indian Administrative Services, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service:  Candidate must be a citizen of India
For other Services:  Candidate must be either: -
(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) A subject of Nepal, or
(c) A subject of Bhutan, or
(d) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him/her by the Government of India.

 

UPSC IAS Eligibility- Educational Qualification


A candidate must hold a Graduate degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification.

UPSC Civil Services Exam application process


The Candidates can apply online for IAS exam from UPSC’s official website. From last year (2023) UPSC have facilitated the One-time registration (OTR), in which candidate have to fill all demanded information only once and through OTR, candidate can apply for various examinations conducted by UPSC.
Candidate must have any one Photo ID Card from below List while filling the UPSC Exam application:

    1. Aadhaar Card
    2. Voter Card
    3. PAN Card
    4. Passport
    5. Driving Licence
    6. Any other Photo ID Card issued by the State/Central Government.

Candidates can also withdraw the application from online window during the time period notified by Commission.
